Learn about our Jewish life and faith from Rabbi Adi Cohen

Rabbi Adi Cohen is the Rabbi of Temple Shalom, with his work sitting at the intersection of community leadership, public trust, and Jewish life.
Adi was born and raised in Israel, with his early leadership being shaped through service. He spent three years as a Navy officer during compulsory IDF service, followed by twelve years as a Search and Rescue officer - later serving three years in civil crisis management as a reservist. These experiences grounded his approach to leadership - Stay calm, Act decisively, Put people first.
He taught Jewish ethics and law in Israeli high schools, and also worked creatively in special education kindergartens as a storyteller, integrating Hebrew and sign language to build connection and inclusion.
For over fifteen years, he hase served Jewish communities across Israel, New Zealand, and Australia as a congregational Rabbi. He previously served as Chair of the Assembly of Rabbis and Cantors and as a member of the executive board of the Union for Progressive Judaism.
Adi believes leadership is built through responsibility, listening, and consistency over time and is guided by a simple conviction from Rabbi Harold S. Kushner - "You are not a prisoner of your past. You are the architect of your future".
